The new under 16 girls winter league held on Sunday evenings at Tennis World had an interesting doubles match on one of the first evenings.
The match was between Natalie Woods and Jess Quayle, representing Tennis World, against Alice Cracknell and Samantha Reed of David Lloyd Teesside. Even though they were only playing sets to 4 games and a third set tie break, the four girls managed to achieve one of the longest doubles matches we can remember at Tennis World.
Nigel Garton commented, "The length of match may have had something to do with the friendly conversation at the change of ends and I'm sure it was not all chat about tennis! The match lasted an incredible 2.5 hours but they all came off smiling having had great fun."
The first set was won by Tennis World with the 2nd going to David Lloyd, a deciding third was always going to be close and so it proved with David Lloyd coming through 10 - 8.
