The first leg of the brand new West Cumbria Mini Red tour got off to a great start during the Christmas break as 24 young players flocked to Silloth to show off their range of impressive tennis skills.
With players from all over Cumbria it was Carlisle’s Liam Short and Maryport’s Caitlin Almond who emerged victorious with final wins over Silloth’s Max Paton and Maryport’s Terezia Holecova respectively with Carlisle’s Cameron Carter edging out Seaton’s Scott Jones and Abigail Mossop winning an all Silloth final in the consolation events.
It was great start to the series of competitions which now moves onto Maryport on January the 8th and is followed by 3 events in the Workington area which culminates in a grand final at the end of March when the top 8 boys and top 8 girls will fight it out for the inaugural title.
