It is with great sadness that we report the passing away of Susan Hool on 23^rd December at the age of 35.

Susan was a fine athlete (representing her school, County and Region at many sports), and fierce competitor who enjoyed success individually at all levels.  She represented Cumbria at both junior and senior level with great distinction and success.  She was the 16 & Under Girls County Champion in 1989 and the 18 & Under County Champion in 1991 and 1992.

Her career in teaching had taken her to Wilmslow in Cheshire and latterly although still playing tennis to a high standard her sporting focus had shifted to athletics.  She had twice competed in the London Marathon starting with the elite women athletes and had a best time of 3hours and 36 seconds. 

Perhaps the quotation on the Service of Thanksgiving best sums Susan’s attitude to life and sport

You see the impossible,

I saw the finish line,

Impossible is nothing

She will be missed by all who knew her and our sympathies are extended to the Hool family.
