Cambridgeshire’s trio of James Murphy, Nik Ahyaee and Natasha Scott played in the 9 and under Orange Festival at Corby where they were joined by teams from Norfolk (2 teams), Hertfordshire (2 teams), Hereford and Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire.
All three players performed extremely well throughout. Cambridgeshire were in a group with Norfolk, Herts ‘A’, and Hereford and Worcestershire. They beat Norfolk and Hereford and Worcestershire but lost to Herts ‘A’ in their group. Natasha had a great win 7/6 in the third tiebreak to help beat Hereford and Worcestershire and so ensure they went through to the semi-finals.
In the semi-final James and Nik both had valiant, hard fought wins in three sets against the Nottinghamshire first two to help Cambs into the final.
They faced the Herts ‘A’ team again in the final but unfortunately despite some hard fought matches could not quite manage to over- come them.
It was a tremendous team effort – well done every one!
