Buckinghamshire revealed a strong line up today to contest this year’s AEGON Summer County Cup including some of the best tennis players from across the region.
The announcement was made ahead of the start of play this morning and Buckinghamshire will get their campaign underway against Group One challengers, Middlesex, at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park.
The team from Buckinghamshire, lead by captain Alison Longfield, are competing in the top flight of the tournament which see’s forty four counties taking part at 13 grass court venues across Britain.
The players flying the flag for Buckinghamshire in their quest for doubles glory include; Alison Longfield, Helen Adams, Julia Bone, Celia Bristow, Alexandra Clark, Claire Hamilton, Jemima Hayward, Laura Jones, Helen Lawson, Claudia Marsala, Emily Quin and Laura Deigman.
The Buckinghamshire hopefuls are bidding to secure county honours for the first time in the history of the tournament.
Derek Howorth, President of the Lawn Tennis Association said: “County Week’s unique structure allows more than 600 of the best players in Britain to compete at the same time at different venues across the country. It has been an important part of the calendar for well over a century and I am delighted that this tradition is still alive today.”
