It was in August at The All England Club where we witnessed an incredible week of junior tennis at the 10th HSBC Road to Wimbledon National Finals.
The champions were duly crowned and it is now time to start looking ahead to another successful series of competitions, as this unique opportunity to experience playing at Wimbledon is brought to many more 11-14 year olds across the country in 2012.
Stage 1 Tournament Entry Form
Tournament Director, Paul Hutchins, who will also be busy next year leading the 2012 British Olympic Tennis Team on home soil at Wimbledon, is currently inviting all British tennis clubs and schools to run a stage one Road to Wimbledon event and bring the premier junior national lawn tennis event to aspiring tennis players in communities across England, Scotland and Wales.
As long as you can meet the requirements of the tournament format explained fully in the online entry form then you can host a tournament during April and May and be a part of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon.
“Players of all standards have been seen to reach the National Finals. It is here that I invite as many Clubs and Schools as possible to enter the event in order to give your juniors an opportunity to play in this prestigious tournament.” – Paul Hutchins
With a bit of good fortune along the way, and good tennis, a girl or boy from any event could win the dream opportunity to play in August at the National Finals and also meet Tim Henman, who will be in attendance to congratulate the winners and present the trophies on finals day.
Tournament ambassador, Tim Henman, will be running a tennis clinic the morning of the finals with the help of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative coach Dan Bloxham.
Last year over 800 tournaments were held in 42 Counties giving thousands of juniors the opportunity to play in this special event organised by The All England Club.
All competition organisers wishing to enter in 2012 can download an online entry form from the official website www.hsbcroadtowimbledon.com and can thereafter contact their County Organisers early next year to be involved.
“I hope you will help us in our ambitions to give more kids the opportunity to play at SW19 – by encouraging young players to enter into the HSBC Road to Wimbledon.” – Tim Henman
