Oliver Golding has won his first Junior Grand Slam after beating Jiri Vesely 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to claim the US Open boys' singles title at Flushing Meadows in New York.
The 18 year-old recovered from a set down to defeat the top seed from Czech Republic in two hours and 14 minutes and become the first British winner since Andy Murray in 2004.
The Briton served nine aces and won 75% of points on his first serve as he earned one crucial break of serve in each of the final two sets to secure victory.
Golding produced a spirited comeback against the player he partnered to gold at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, recovering after losing a tight first set to join the likes of Stefan Edberg, Andy Roddick and Murray in winning the title.
The win ends a successful week for the British players in the boys' singles after Golding was joined in the semi-finals by George Morgan and Kyle Edmund.
Meanwhile in the wheelchair quad singles final world No. 2 Norfolk made a brave attempt at trying to secure his third US Open Grand Slam title, taking a slender 2-1 lead at the start of the opening set against David Wagner before coming from 3-5 down to level the set at 5-5.
However Wagner went on to close out the set 7-5 and then lead 3-1 in the second set before the Briton was forced to retire as he struggled increasingly with the pain from a side strain sustained during last Sunday's final day of the USTA Wheelchair Tennis Championships in St Louis, the final Super Series tournament of the season.
Norfolk leaves New York with runners-up honours at the final Grand Slam of the season for the second successive year.
