Jamie Baker & James Ward win opening round matches in Australian Open Qualifying

Jamie Baker and James Ward have progressed into round two of the Australian Open qualifying at Melbourne Park.

British No.2 Baker and British No.3 Ward played Julio Cesar Campozano (ECU) & Boris Pashanski (SRB) respectively, both coming through in straight sets.

In round two, Ward plays Mischa Zverev of Germany while Baker takes on the Italian 19th seed Matteo Viola.

Meanwhile the women’s qualifying singles draw has been announced. Anne Keothavong, the 22nd seed, plays American Grace Min in her opening round match, while Konta, who is making her debut in Melbourne, meets Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia.
