British juniors Joshua Ward-Hibbert and Kyle Edmund have successfully progressed to the third round of the boys' singles at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Ward-Hibbert, who trains at the SotoTennis Academy, overcame the Italian eighth seed Stefano Napolitano 6-3, 6-4 and will now face the ninth seed Nikola Milojevic of Serbia for a place in the quarter-finals.
With temperatures rising on Court 19 seventh seed Edmund, who trains at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, was forced to come from a set down for the second successive match to eventually defeat eleventh seed Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Meanwhile Luke Bambridge was beaten 6-4, 7-6 by fourth seed Kaichi Uchida of Japan and 2011 Junior Wimbledon finalist and third seed Liam Broady lost 6-4, 6-1 to unseeded Robin Stanek.
Andy Murray resumes his Men's Singles challenge on Wednesday as he takes on Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals. The match is the third scheduled on the Rod Laver Arena after the conclusion of two of the women's singles quarter-finals. Play commences at 11am local time (midnight GMT).
Colin Fleming partners Liezel Huber of USA in the last match of the day on Rod Laver in the quarter-finals of the Mixed Doubles against the sixth seeds Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi.
Rafael Nadal was made to fight for his semi-final place in Melbourne but eventually was able to battle past seventh seed Tomas Berdych in the feature night match. The Czech player held a point for a two set lead but it was the Spanish world No.2 came through a terrific contest 6-7(5), 7-6(6), 6-4, 6-3 after four hours and 16 minutes of play.
Roger Federer and Victoria Azarenka booked their places in the semi-finals with impressive quarter final performances on day nine at Melbourne Park. Four-time Champion Federer was on top form to see off 11th seed Juan Martin Del Potro 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 while in the women's draw third seed Azarenka hit back from a set down to defeat Agnieszka Radwanska 6-7(0), 6-0, 6-2.
World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki's latest quest for a first major title came to an end as the Dane went down in straight sets to defending Champion Kim Clijsters. The Belgian 11th seed came through 6-3, 7-6(4) with the result ensuring that Wozniacki will fall to at least third in next week's WTA rankings.
