Sarah Gronert (GER) beat Annika Beck (GER) 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to claim the winner’s title in Sunderland on Sunday.

Breaks were traded in the first set until 3-3 and then Beck won three games to take the opening set 6-3.

The first two games in the second set were breaks; both players held serve for 2-2. Gronert then broke to take a 4-2 lead, held then broke again for the set.

In the third and deciding set, the first two games of the set were breaks and both players held serve for 2-2. Gronert held and broke for a 4-2 lead, and then held for 5-2. Beck held for 5-3, but Sarah served out to take the set and match 6-3.

In the doubles event, Justyna Jegiolka (POL) & Diana Marcinkevica (LAT) defeated Italian pairing Matinac Caciotti & Anastasia Grymalska 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 to claim the trophy.

Caciotti & Grymalska took an early break in the first set to lead 2-0, but then lost the next four games to go 2-4. The following four games went with serve and was served out to 6-4 by Jegiolka and Marcinkevica.

The first five games in the second set went with serve, but Jegiolka and Marcinkevica were broken twice with the second time when they were serving at 2-5. With this break, Caciotti and Grymalska took the set 6-2.

The final then went to a deciding match tie-break, in which Caciotti and Grymalska raced to a 5-1 lead. Jegiolka and Marcinkevica fought back, taking the next eight points to reach match point at 9-5, finally winning the tie-break 10-6.
