Thursday saw Tara Moore make it through to the semi-finals of the AEGON GB Pro-Series Foxhills with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Italian Corinna Dentoni.
The Italian, who has been ranked as high as 132, pushed the British No.8 all the way in a 2 hour match. However it was Moore who showed great composure to secure the straight sets win.
19 year-old Moore who was a quarter-finalist at Foxhills in 2011, will meet top seed Sarah Gronert on Friday for a place in the final. Gronert, ranked 169, ended the impressive run of wild card Daneika Borthwick in straight sets, whilst third seed Naomi Broady nearly made it a second British player in the semi-finals, before succumbing to the tricky Ons Jabeur (TUN) 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
Saturday’s doubles final will see Thai pair Nicha Lertpitaksinchai & Peangtarn Plipuech face Ivonne Cavalle Reimers & Nicola Slater.
Scot Nicola Slater, who spends much of her time in the USA, beat Daneika Borthwick / Lisa Whybourn 6-4 6-2, whilst the Thai girls overcame Tara Moore & Mel South 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Friday’s first semi-final between sixth seed Ons Jabeur and eighth seed Diana Marcinkevica is scheduled for a 11.00am start, whilst the second semi-final between Sarah Gronert and Tara Moore is scheduled for 2.00pm. A 170 seat stand has been brought in for the final two days of competition.
