Alexander Slabinsky claimed the men’s singles title at the AEGON GB Pro-Series in Felixstowe with a three set win over Tom Burn.
Unseeded Alexander Slabinsky defeated wild card Tom Burn 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 in the men’s final in Felixstowe to win his first AEGON GB Pro-Series event of the year.
Speaking after the match Slabinsky said: “I’m really happy with my win this week. This is the first Futures win for me since coming back from injury. I’ve had a lot of three set matches along the way, and glad I got the job done at the end!”
Slabinsky has also been in good form in Felixstowe, defeating fifth seed Edward Corrie 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 to seal his place in the final, edged the lead in the opening set.
However Burn, who had also had a successful run this week, notably defeating top seed Josh Goodall in the opening round, fought back in the second to even. The momentum then swung back to Slabinsky who took the win 6-4 in the final set.
