Andy Murray has won the AEGON Player of the Month award for April.
The British No.1 used April to shrug off doubts about his form and ease into the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters before losing to an inspired Rafael Nadal.
After losing his third straight Grand Slam final on the last day of January Andy Murray went through a tough next two months, losing his first matches in Rotterdam, Indian Wells and Miami.
The Briton, who slipped to world No.5, also parted company with Alex Corretja and looked to be suffering a serious slump in form.
However he answered his critics in style at the Rolex Masters, the ATP Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo, Monaco in April.
Having received a bye in round one Murray then won three straight set matches in three days, dropping just 14 games across six sets against Radek Stepanek, Gilles Simon and Frederico Gil.
In the semi-finals Murray was suffering with a wrist injury before his match with world No.1 Rafael Nadal but after injections to numb the pain he came out to see if he could beat the man who has won more matches than anyone else in 2011 and has not lost on clay since Roland Garros 2009.
Murray became the first man to take a set off Nadal on a clay court since Nicolas Almagro in the 2010 Madrid Masters in winning the second set but eventually went down 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to the eventual winner.

Murray is now back up to No.4 in the world rankings and will look ahead to Madrid and Rome with confidence before he aims to win a Grand Slam at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the next two months.
