The LTA Liability Protection Scheme covers places to play, members, volunteers and paid employees who have a claim made against them for any wrongful act or omission which causes injury, property damage or financial loss to someone else. The cover incorporates Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Employers' Liability and Directors & Officers Liability insurance.
This scheme is centrally funded and provided on behalf of places to play registered with the LTA via their county association.
NB. Cover is included for places to play that are predominantly for members. Commercial organisations and local authority owned venues are required to make their own insurance arrangements as cover is not included within the LTA insurances.
There are a number of centrally funded policies arranged for places to play registered to the LTA.
Public Liability and Professional Indemnity cover are arranged with Hiscox Insurance. These provide cover for claims made against the place to play that result from someone suffering an injury, damage to their property or a financial loss as a result of some failure on behalf of the place to play or its employees . It provides protection for a wide range of activities, from training and tournaments to social and fundraising events.
Hiscox Insurance also provides Employers’ Liability insurance. This protects the place to play against claims made by employees who are injured in the course of their employment. This cover may also apply to volunteers working on behalf of the place to play.
The Directors’ and Officers’ Policy which covers volunteers or paid employees who have a claim made against them for any wrongful act or omission that they commit while acting in the capacity of director or officer (including committee members) of their place to play or association.
The Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Director's & Officers' policies are written on a ‘claims made’ basis. This means that the policy which responds is the one that is in place when a claim is actually made, not the one in place when the incident occurred.
It is a condition of all the insurance policies that under no circumstances should any offer or promise be made or responsibility for any injury or damage accepted by, or on behalf of, an insured person.
