The LTA Liability Protection Scheme covers members, volunteers and paid employees who have a claim made against them for any wrongful act or omission. The policy incorporates cover for civil liability (including public liability and professional indemnity) and employers' liability. This scheme is centrally funded and provided on behalf of places to play registered with the LTA via their county association.
There are two centrally funded policies available to places to play registered to the LTA.
The Civil Liability and Director's & Officers' policies are written on a ‘claims made’ basis. This means that the policy which responds is the one that is in place when a claim is actually made, not the one in place when the incident occurred.
It is a condition of the Civil Liability Policy that under no circumstances should any offer or promise be made by, or on behalf of, an insured person.
RSA Care, in partnership with the LTA, can help the injured party.
RSA Care is a scheme launched by the Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc.
RSA Care is an improved way of handling personal injury claims.
RSA Care will provide ongoing support and care to the injured party to ensure they can return to health, and work, as soon as possible.

Some LTA registered places to play are multi-sport venues. The Civil Liability Policy will operate for these additional activities while at your home venue, unless there is a more specific cover in place elsewhere. However, insurers will not accept the following sports activities:
Football, hockey, cricket, clay pigeon shooting, rugby, martial arts (such as karate, judo, kick-boxing, jujitsu and others), rowing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, scuba diving, horse riding, any airborne sports, rock climbing, abseiling, bungee-jumping, motor sport, potholing.

Your place to play's property and contents are not covered by the LTA’s policies and so you will need to take out an additional policy to cover these.

Court Cover has been specially designed in conjunction with Royal & Sun Alliance to meet the needs of places to play tennis and sports clubs.
The policy protects a place to play's property, whatever its age or construction, equipment owned by your place to play, from rollers to rackets, the premises and contents, from cups to computers, and all surfaces, from Astroturf courts to the meeting room carpet.

You must report to our insurance brokers every incident that could give rise to a possible claim and if you are covered through our scheme or not, you should maintain an accident record book.
This keeps accurate records of the date and time any incident occurs, along with details of all relevant circumstances and the full name and address of any parties involved, including witnesses.
