Setting up a Facebook page

How to promote it

  • Include a link to your Facebook page on all your promotional materials so people know where to find you.
  • Publicise the fact you have a Facebook page in your club areas to encourage as many of your current members as possible join the site.  It is important to do this and build your numbers so you can reach new people through your members ‘Friends’.

How to organise it

  • Facebook is a great way for you to contact large numbers of people quickly and for free!
  • As social media is always open to your users, it is really important to assign people from your organisation to check the page on a daily basis and respond promptly to comments. This will include weekends.
  • Include as many images as you can. Facebook users respond much more to visual prompts than they do to flat text so use lots of pictures to generate interest.
  • Remember to get back to all feedback, positive and negative. If someone posts a comment and you do not respond quickly, you run the risk of loosing their interest.
  • Use Facebook to publicise upcoming events, notify people of incentives and offers your club is offering, and make people aware of any new content on your website.
