If you’re new to the game, there are loads of reasons to start playing tennis. Have a read of the below to find out a little more about the sport…you’ll be on court before you know it!

It’s more affordable than you think

Did you know that there are over 500 venues across the country where you can play tennis for free at any time? That’s over 1000 free tennis courts. And there are loads more where you can pay just a few quid to turn up and play tennis. To find these places search in the allplay tennis Finder above and refine your results by ticking the boxes under costs on the right hand side.

One of the benefits of is that you can search for courts and find somewhere to play at the click of a button. Once you’ve got the tennis bug you might decide to join a club but this is a great way to get started.

Rackets, balls, whites, the correct trainers…you might think there’s a load of equipment that you need to shell out on before you can even step on to a tennis court. That’s not the case. You can pick up a racket at a sports shop or online for as little as £20, sometimes even less and you don’t need any other fancy kit – your regular t-shirt and trainers are fine. Also, keep your eye out for any competitions on We’re always running competitions for people to win tennis starter packs…and let’s just say your chances of winning are better than the lottery.
