If you’re new to the game, there are loads of reasons to start playing tennis. Have a read of the below to find out a little more about the sport…you’ll be on court before you know it!
It’s a great way to get fit
If you want to try an activity that’s good exercise and a good laugh, tennis is your answer. You burn loads of calories whilst socialising with friends and learning a new skill. Most of the time, you won’t even notice that you’re doing exercise at all. In case you don’t believe me, look at the stats: you can burn over 700 calories in an hour of singles.
Cardio Tennis might sound scary but it’s really not. It’s great fun, an excellent way to get in to tennis and it doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a racket…it’s more of an exercise class that has tennis in its name. Ok, so there are balls and rackets involved as well but often the aim is run across court, hit the ball as hard as you can or bunny hop over your racket. Explaining an exercise class in words is pretty difficult so we suggest you watch the video on this page – our very own “fly on the wall” film of cardio tennis.
Although Cardio Tennis is fairly new in this country, there are already over 300 places that are offering sessions. Use the allplay tennis Finder at the top of the page to find places near you where you can try it out. Once you’ve entered your postcode, you can refine your search by using the tick boxes on the right hand side.
