At Venice airport. Got a couple of hours till my flight so here's the final instalment from the Cordenons Challenger and it’s a belter!
Spent the morning on court with the guys going through some drills and exercises to add variety to their practice sessions and to help address some of the issues spotted during the match. Good fun. Had the video camera out too. Best educational tool ever – lets the players see what the shot looks like and makes it so much easier to correct things and offer advice. Unfortunately I couldn't video the match as the court only had side viewing. Annoying.
Almost as annoying as videoing being banned at junior tourneys coz of child protection. It’s the best way for coaches to help kids learn. I'd love to see the National Championships putting video cameras at the back of every court to record each match, with both players being given a DVD copy at the end.
Earlier this week I saw Gaudio get a codey for smashing his racket. Two points later he fired a ball out of the court. Should have had a point penalty. Umpire said nothing. Next point his opponent threw his racket at the back fence, just missed ball girl, no codey!
That's it folks. Off to buy a new book. Finished mine yesterday – it was awesome. If you like crime novels, try Peter James. His are all set in Brighton and I totally love them. Looking Good Dead is the one I just finished. I've read about six of his now. So good. Not sure if I'll find him in Venice tho!
Ciao!
