Aegon GB Pro-Series Sheffield
Ed Corrie has reached the final of the Aegon GB Pro-Series in Sheffield, sealing his place in a second final in as many weeks against Christian Harrison.
Corrie, who defeated the 18 year-old American last week at the Aegon GB Pro-Series in Preston, continued his undefeated run of nine back to back matches after beating fellow Briton Dan Smethurst 7-6(0), 6-2 in the semi-finals.
Speaking ahead of his final, Team Gosling player, Corrie said: “I have been really determined to back up last week and am really pleased to be where I am. There’s now one more part of the job to be done in the final.”
The men’s doubles title went to top seeds David Rice & Sean Thornley, capturing their 15th pro career title together. In the final they beat Dan Evans & Andy Fitzpatrick 6-2, 7-6(6) saving a set point in the second set tie-break. After the match the pair outlined their plans for playing some ATP Challenger events in Europe and North America, with the goal of playing Wimbledon again this year.

Aegon British Tour Bath
The Aegon British Tour Bath is underway this week at the University of Bath Tennis Centre and has reached the latter stages of the men’s and women’s singles draws.
In the women’s singles, second seed Jessica Ren has reached the final and plays either fourth seed Jazzamay Drew or top seed Francesca Stephenson for the title. The men’s singles has reached the final four where top seed James Ireland plays third seed Adam Thornton-Brown in one semi-final while Sam Hutt plays qualifier Sebastian Rey in the other.

Amanda Carreras has reached the final four of the women's singles in Egypt. Carreras, who is seeded second, defeated Chantal Skamlova 7-5, 6-1 to set up a semi-final meeting with Lara Michel (SUI).

Grade 4 – ITF East African 18 & Under Junior Circuit 2013 – Kenya

Jay Clarke and American partner Mwendwa Mbithi have reached the semi-finals of the boys’ doubles in Kenya. Seeded fourth, the duo take on second seeds Oscar Janglin (SWE) & Mateusz Terczynski (POL) for a place in the final. Meanwhile in the girls’ doubles, Ruby Grant & Australia’s Sasha Alexander reached the final four before being defeated in straight sets by Belgian duo Margaux Bovy & Nina Van Oost.

Grade 3 – New Zealand 18 & Under Summer Championships – New Zealand
Players: Rhett Purcell
Rhett Purcell advanced through to the semi-finals of the boys’ doubles in New Zealand. Partnering Niko Vulinovich of New Zealand, the sixth seeded duo were defeated in three sets by the top seeds.
Grade 2 - 11th SFAX ITF Junior Tournament – Tunisia
Players: Alexander Sendegeya, Isabelle Wallace, Julian Cash, Katie Boulter, Lana Rush
Alexander Sendegeya has reached the semi-finals of the boys’ singles in Tunisia. Sendegeya who is seeded fourth, plays fifth seeded Frenchman Maxime Janvier next. Meanwhile in the boys’ doubles, Sendegeya and partner Julian Cash are through to the semi-final stages where they play Babic & Kraljevic for a place in the final.
In the girls’ singles, Isabelle Wallace has also progressed through to the final four where she takes on Asiya Dair of Kazakhstan. In the doubles, Wallace has teamed up with Belgian Klaartje Liebens and the top seeded duo are in one semi-final, while second seeds Katie Boulter & Lana Rush are in the other.
Tennis Europe Winter Cups 14U
The Tennis Europe Winter Cups qualifying rounds are underway this weekend from 1-3 February with the U14 & U16 teams competing for a place in the final rounds two weeks later, from 15-17 February.
Captained by Richard Plews, the GB boys’ U14 team consisting of Jack Molloy, Max Stewart and Dominic West are in Budapest, Hungary and have already sealed a 3-0 win over Bulgaria to play the Czech Republic in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile the girls’ team of Georgina Axon, Anastasia Mikheeva, Katie Swann and captain Helen Reesby are in Kiel, Germany and meet Ukraine in the semi-finals after receiving a bye in round 1.
Ahead of their semi-final matches, Reesby said: “We play Ukraine tomorrow for a place in the Winter Cup finals. It will be a difficult match but the team are ready and will give their all.”
Tennis Europe Winter Cups 16U
The boys’ 16U team, consisting of Marcus Walters, Daniel Bennett and Joel Cannell and captain Chris Wilkinson are competing in Cholet France and take on Austria in the opening round. Meanwhile the girls’ 16U team of Maia Lumsden, Jasmine Amber Asghar, Freya Christie and captain Claire Curran are in Izmir, Turkey and have received a bye into the semi-finals.

In the South East division 1A there was a clash between the top two teams, Kent Ladies 1st and Imperial Ladies 1st. The Kent team came out on top with a 10-2 victory. Both teams are now tied at the top of the group on 12 points.
In the Men’s Midlands 2B league Leicester Men’s 1st team put an end to their run of four straight losses by beating Cambridge Men’s 2nd team 10-2. Elsewhere it was a successful week for Liverpool John Moore’s University as both their Men’s 1st and 2nd teams were victorious. The 1st team beat Manchester 12-0, and the seconds claimed an 8-4 victory over Keele university.
This week it was announced that the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tie between the Aegon GB Davis Cup Team and Russia will take place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

A new University Tennis Tour has been launched this week with six new tournaments taking place across the country from February to April. The Tour, which is a series of LTA approved Grade 3 competitions, is open exclusively to students. Each competition features separate men's and ladies' singles events with all matches played counting towards British tennis ratings and rankings as well as the LTA university leaderboards.
