The AEGON GB Fed Cup Team
The AEGON GB Fed Cup Team have finished top of their pool and earned their place in Saturday's promotion play-offs where they will face Austria.
On day one of the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Euro/Africa Zone Group I competition, GB defeated Portugal. In the first singles match, Anne Keothavong beat Maria Joao Koehler 6-3, 6-4. In the second singles, Elena Baltacha got the better of Michelle Larcher de Brito 6-2, 6-3 to seal the tie for the British team.
On day two, GB faced the Netherlands. In the first match of the day, Bibiane Schoofs of the Netherlands beat Anne Keothavong 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3 before British No.1 Elena Baltacha brought Great Britain level in the contest with victory over Michaella Krajicek 6-3, 6-3.
In the deciding doubles rubber, the young British pairing of Laura Robson and Heather Watson prevailed, beating Kiki Bertens and Bibiane Schoofs 7-5, 7-6(5) to give Great Britain their second success in as many matches in Israel.
On day three, GB faced Israel. In the first singles match Anne Keothavong defeated Julia Glushko 6-2, 6-1 while Elena Baltacha triumphed over Shahar Peers 6-4, 6-3.

ATP 250 – Open Sud de France, France – Men’s doubles
Ken Skupski and Jamie Murray are through to the men’s doubles semi-finals of the ATP 250 event in France.
Ken Skupski and partner Treat Huey (PHI) will face French pairing Mahut & Roger-Vasselin. Third seeds, Jamie Murray and Paul Hanley (AUS) are facing Dustin Brown (GER) & Lovro Zovko (CRO).

AEGON GB Pro-Series Sunderland – Women’s singles
The AEGON GB Pro-Series in Sunderland has been getting underway this week with the semi-finalists being decided today.
Francesca Stephenson made it through to the quarter-finals before she lost out to Sarah Gronert of Germany 6-4, 6-3.

Australia, Burnie $25K –– Women’s doubles
Melanie South has claimed the women's doubles title of the $25K event in Burnie, Australia with partner Arina Rodionova of Russia.
On their way to victory, South & Rodionova faced Japanese pairing Takahata & Aoyama in the semi-finals who they defeated in a three set battle 3-6, 6-3 13-11.
In the final, the British/Russian pairing faced home favourites Stephanie Bengson & Tyra Calderwood and triumphed 6-2, 6-2 to win the championship.

Germany F4 Futures, Nussloch $15K – Men’s doubles
Josh Goodall & Miles Bugby are through to the men’s doubles semi-finals in Germany. The British duo will take on German pairing Marko Lenz & George Von Massow.

Turkey F4 Futures Antalya, $10K – Men’s singles
Oliver Golding is through to the quarter-finals in Turkey after defeating Dimitar Kuzmanov of Bulgaria 6-4, 6-4. The Briton will now face fifth seed Alexandre Folie from Belgium for a place in the last four.

Mallorca, Spain - $10K – Women’s singles
Amanda Carreras has progressed through to the second round in Spain after defeating qualifier Kana Daniel (JPN) 6-0, 6-1. She will now face No.1 seed Anne Schaffer of Germany.

USA F4 Futures - Palm Coast, FL $10K – Men’s singles
Edward Corrie, is through to the men's singles quarter-finals in Florida after defeating wild card and doubles partner Sekou Bangoura (USA) 6-4 6-4. Qualifier Corrie, will now face sixth seed Gabriel Moraru (ROU) for a place in the semi-finals.

AEGON British Tour Graves – Men’s & Women’s singles
Richard Bloomfield and James Marsalek are through to the men’s singles final in Graves. Wild card Bloomfield, defeated Nicolas Rosenweig 6-3, 6-3 to earn his place in the final, while Marsalek beat compatriot Andrew Fitzpatrick 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-4.
Meanwhile in the women’s singles semi-finals, Georgina Craven defeated Hannah Hume 6-1, 6-3 while Yasmin Clarke triumphed over fifth seed Emilia Banos-Gregorians 6-4, 6-2.
The men’s singles final will take place at 10am on Saturday, while the women’s will begin at 11.45am.

ITF Grade 2 Tunisia – Girls' & Boys’ singles & doubles
Katie Boulter, Scott Clayton, Toby Mitchell and Jathan Malik are all in action in Tunisia this week.
Boulter is through to the quarter-finals with partner Ioana Ducu (ROU) and they are due to face Korashvili (UKR) & Mertens (BEL) for a place in the last four.
Meanwhile in the boys’ first round doubles draw, fourth seeds Clayton & Mitchell have teamed up and are up against Papik (CZE) & Salazar Martin (ESP) while Malik and partner Danil Zelenkov (MKD) will take on Rossier (SUI) & Sallemi (TUN).

It’s been a good day for the 14 & under and 16 & under Great Britain Winter Cups Teams. At the 14 & under level, the GB boys’ and girls’ teams both won 3-0 to make the semi-finals of their respective groups.
At 16 & under level, the boys’ team won 3-0 against No.3 seeds Turkey, to make the semi-finals but the GB girls team fell to top seeds Ukraine.

Alfie Hewett became just the second British player to win the Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters boys' singles title on Sunday as the world’s premier tournament for wheelchair tennis players aged 18 and under came to a thrilling climax in Tarbes with Hewett upsetting Argentinean top seed Augustin Ledesma 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(7).

Leon Smith, Captain of the AEGON GB Davis Cup Team named his team to face the Slovak Republic in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Euro/Africa Zone Group I first round tie from 10-12 February 2012.
The team will comprise of: James Ward, Dan Evans, Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins.
In preparation for the tie next week, Dan Evans had been competing in Zagreb and won through three rounds of qualifying to earn a place in the main draw in PBZ Zagreb Indoors ATP 250. Colin Fleming & Ross Hutchins were competing in the Open Sud de France ATP 250 and James Ward has been training at the National Tennis Centre.

The Tennis Foundation has re-launched its website this week and you can find information on community tennis including education and tennis for disabled people, as well as TF events and latest news.
