Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters 2013 - Blogs
Ash Smith, the Tennis Foundation's National Performance Coach, blogs from Tarbes where has travelled over to the Wheelchair Tennis Junior Masters with junior world No.1 Alfie Hewett.
Excerpt:
First full day of training for us today at a tennis club in Ossun, about 20 minutes away from the main tournament venue. Very picturesque setting at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains, which are looking particularly snow-capped as I write this.
It’s exceptionally cold this morning, so training on the outdoor court was quite bracing to say the least! Today is all about Alfie finding his timing and getting his feel for the ball on these slow, spinny courts and so far he is striking the ball well. Tomorrow we will start to work around some more specific patterns ready for the tournament start on Thursday, but first we have the official Team Presentation tonight (always plenty to keep us busy in the evenings)!Read the blog in full.
