Curtis & Rae reach quarters in Girls' Doubles

Jade Curtis and Jocelyn Rae are through to the Girls’ Doubles quarter-final at The Junior Championships following a comprehensive victory against the No 4 seeds on Thursday. The British pair defeated Russian Elena Chernyakova and Austrian Nikola Hofmanova 6-3 6-3 and will now meet either the Dutch No 5 seeds, Lesley Kerkhove and Arantxa Rus, or Italian Anastassia Grymalska and Moroccan Nadia Lalami for a place in the semi-final.

On Wednesday evening, Tara Moore and Heather Watson also reached the Girls’ Doubles quarter-final after defeating the No 2 seeds, Romanian Ana Bogdan and Russian Ksenia Lykina, 6-2 7-5.

However, Girls' Singles semi-finalist Laura Robson missed out on a doubles quarter-final place with Dutch partner Richel Hogenjamp losing against Czech Zuzana Linhova and Slovakian Zuzana Luknarova 6-4 6-7(3) 2-6. Naomi Broady and Jade Windley also bowed out against the Hungarian No 8 seeds, Timea Babos and Reka-Luca Jani, 5-7 2-6.

In the Boys' Doubles, Dan Evans and Dan Smethurst lost in the second round against the Australian No 3 seeds, Bernard Tomic and Matt Reid, 3-6 4-6. Meanwhile, Dominic Hodgason and Ashley Watling bowed out at the same stage against Australians Alex Sanders and Mark Verryth 6-2 7-6(5).
