Rae through to Australia semis

Jocelyn Rae is through to the semi-finals of the $25k doubles event in Bendigo (AUS) after a straight sets victory over Hayley Ericksen (AUS) and Nicole Riner (SUI).

The Briton teamed up with Emelyn Starr (AUS) to defeat Ericksen and Riner 7-5, 7-5 and set up a semi-finals clash with Ellen Barry (NZL) and Marija Mirkovic (AUS).

Recently crowned AEGON Player of the Month for November Lucy Brown and her partner Daniela Scivetti (AUS) reached the quarter-finals of the event in Australia 6-3, 6-2 first round victory over the Australian duo of Bianca and Anneliese Tepper.

Brown and Scivetti narrowly missed out on the semi-finals after a 6-4, 1-6, (9-11) defeat to Rae’s semi-final opponents Barry and Mirkovic.

Naomi Broady has secured a place in the second round of the $10k event in La Habana (CUB) after a 6-1, 6-1 win over, Dredi-Inia Ghinda (CAN).

Broady, who won the $25k women's singles event in Puebla (MEX) last week, now plays Margarita-Greta Skripnik (ISR) in the second round. 

Catriona Stewart, Jennifer Allan and Natasha Khan were also competing in the opening round of the singles event in Cuba. The trio suffered defeat, although Khan enjoyed success in the doubles, winning her first round tie with Gally De Wael (BEL) against the Cuban pairing of Jessica Gomez-Galloso and Yisel Nodarse-Darvois.

Khan and De Wael now meet Vaszilisza Bulgakova (HUN) and Aleksandra Razumova (RUS) in the second round.

David Rice defeated Miliaan Niesten (NED) 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the $10k event in Kuala Lumpur (MAS). Rice played in his second three set match of the week so far following on from his 1-6, 7-5, 6-0 first round win over Dzmitry Zhyrmont (BLR) and will now play tournament No.4 seed Rohan Gajjar (IND).

In the doubles, Rice teamed up with Sean Thornley to reach the quarter-finals. The pair defeated N.Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan (both IND) 6-0, 6-4 in their opening match before losing out 4-6, 1-6 to tournament No.3 seeds Betau Siarhei and Dzmitry Zhyrmont (both BLR).

Alexander Slabinsky has reached the second round of the $10k Santo Domingo event in the Dominican Republic after a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Blake Strode (USA). Slabinsky now meets Adam El Mihdawy (USA), a player ranked 93 places higher than the Briton in the rankings.

It will be the second meeting between the pair in the last two weeks, as El Mihdawy defeated Slabinsky in the second round of last week’s $10k event in Santo Domingo.

There was also success for Slabinsky in the doubles with partner Amir Weintraub (ISR)  after they recorded a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over Alexandre Folie (BEL)  and Yannick Vandenbulcke (BEL). The pair will play Younes Ben- Abderrahman (BEL) and Damon Gooch (RSA) in the quarter-finals.

James Feaver has reached the quarter-finals of the doubles event at the $10k ITF event in Arequipa, Peru. Feaver partnered Juan-Pablo Amado (ARG) in their 3-6 6-2 [10-5] victory over Abraham Gonzalez-Jimenez (ESP) and Joan-Marc Grimal-Ferrer (ESP).

They now play Peruvian pair of Juan-Pedro Torres and Juan Jose Torres Zea for a place in the semi-finals.
