Caroline Wozniacki has been crowned women’s singles champion at the AEGON International in Eastbourne.
Wozniacki, the No.6 seed from Denmark, defeated Virginie Razzano 7-6(5) 7-5 to clinch her fifth career title.
“It’s always great to be back here,” said Wozniacki, who reached the quarter final on her debut at Devonshire Park last year.
"I felt the ball really well today. I felt like we had some good rallies. I’m really pleased to have won today."
The 18 year-old is currently ranked at a career high world ranking of No.9 and will meet Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm in the first round at Wimbledon.
"Right now I just want to celebrate today and that I won and in a couple of days I’m going to think about Wimbledon," added Wozniacki. "In a Grand Slam you have to play seven great matches to win and so it’s about having the focus for every point and we will see how I will do."
Wozniacki has now won all three of her matches against Razzano, the world No.25 from France, whose two career titles, at Tokyo and Guangzhou, both came in 2007.
“I think I have a done great job this week,” said Razzano. “It was tough every day but I’m happy to go into the final today and I would like to give congratulation to Caroline. She played well this week, she is a great player.”
Next on Centre Court is the men’s singles final between Canadian qualifier Frank Dancevic and Russian No.2 seed Dmitry Tursunov which will be followed by the women’s doubles final, the last match of the tournament.
