AEGON 18&U Junior County Cup gets under way on Friday as some of Britain’s best young players take to the court to represent their county.
Being held at venues across Britain over the three-day weekend, boys’ and girls’ teams from 44 counties will be in action.
Each Group hosts four teams who play each other in a round-robin format – every match consisting of six singles and three doubles rubbers.
Groups 2 to 7 will be contested at various locations with the top team being promoted and the bottom team being relegated for next year’s competition.
Meanwhile, Group 1 is taking place in Bath where the winners will be crowned boys’ and girls’ AEGON 18&U Junior County Cup champions and the bottom two teams will face relegation.
Surrey boys and Essex girls were victorious last year and will be hoping for a repeat performance as they begin their title defences against Yorkshire and Sussex respectively.
The remaining two boys’ teams in the top flight are Lancashire and Hertfordshire while Middlesex and Kent will be looking to mount a challenge for the girls’ crown.
