Murray, playing in his first tournament since Wimbledon, is through to the third round of the Toronto Masters with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Sweden's Thomas Johansson.
A six hour rain delay on Wednesday did not distract the 21 year old Scot who got the crucial break in 10th game to secure the first set. Although Johansson broke Murray's serve at the start of the second set, it was the eighth seed who came through to win in 1 hour 38 minutes.
Murray will face world number 10 Stanislas Wawrinka on Thursday for a place in the quarter finals. It will be a busy day for Andy who will team up with his brother later on to take on Wimbledon champions Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic.
