Heather Watson continued her fine recent run of form by capturing the ITF Grade A girls’ doubles title with Croatian Ajla Tomljanovic in Mexico at the weekend.
Watson and Tomljanovic came from behind in the final to beat Ana Bogdan of Romania and Malou Ejdesgaard of Denmark 4-6 6-3 [10-5].
In December, Watson finished runner-up at the prestigious Eddie Herr International in Florida and is currently at a career high junior world ranking of No 20.
Meanwhile, Ross Wilson picked up the 12&U boys’ singles title at the Tennis Europe event in France. In the final, the young Brit led Ion Efrim 6-1 1-0 before the Frenchman withdrew due to an injury.
"This a fantastic start to the year for Ross," said Andy Barnes, the coach who travelled with the GB players to France. "His talent and tactically astute game shone in his victory and I'm confident he can continue his development and form into events throughout 2009."
In Sweden, Oliver Golding and Jennifer Ren have reached Tuesday’s boys’ and girls’ singles finals at the ITF Grade 4 event – Golding will meet Belarusian Andrei Vasilevski while Ren will face Swede Ellen Allgurin.
