London shoppers will have the opportunity to join TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher on court to kick start their 2013 fitness drive by trying out Cardio Tennis this month.
The mother-of-two is joining forces with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and encouraging members of the public to head down to Westfield London from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 January to take part in Cardio Tennis, a group fitness based work-out for free as part of the Westfield London My2013 event.
Kirsty said: “Cardio Tennis is a fun way to get fit and you don’t have to play tennis to enjoy it.
“I’ve only just started Cardio Tennis but am now completely hooked as it’s a great way to get fit with family and friends.”
Cardio Tennis, an LTA product, is a fun and sociable tennis-inspired group fitness class open to people of all ages and abilities.
There are currently more than 600 venues delivering Cardio Tennis in Great Britain and the average person can burn around 600 calories a session – regardless of their tennis ability.
Cardio Tennis does not require tennis skills, but is all about keeping your heart rate up, burning calories and having fun. Whether the ball goes in or out is irrelevant as the main purpose is to get fit in one hour group sessions.
Cardio Tennis instructors will be on hand at Westfield London to give shoppers the chance to get on court and give Cardio Tennis a go, as well as give advice about where to find their local Cardio Tennis session.
Sophie Curthoys, National Products Manager at the Lawn Tennis Association, said: “Cardio tennis is a great way to get involved in tennis and get fit at the same time.
“The event at Westfield London gives people the chance to learn more about this exciting product, and try out a taster session for free.
“There are venues all across the country now offering Cardio Tennis and we’re encouraging people to get along and try it.”
Ten minute Cardio Tennis taster sessions will be available in the Atrium at Westfield London, Shepherds Bush on Friday 25, 10am – 10pm, Saturday 26, 10am – 10pm and Sunday 27, 12pm – 6pm.
You can join Kirsty for a session on Friday afternoon between 1.30pm and 5.30pm.
