Heather Watson breaks into WTA top 40

British tennis player Heather Watson has reached a career high ranking after breaking into the world's top 40.

The 20-year-old from Guernsey moved to 39th in the WTA rankings this week with fellow Briton Laura Robson remaining in 43rd position.

Watson, who represented Great Britain in the recent Fed Cup tournament in Israel, reached the quarter-finals of the US Indoor Tennis Championships in Memphis last week and won two rounds at the Australian Open in Melbourne earlier in the year.
