The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has today published the criteria to select Great Britain players for the upcoming European Beach Tennis Championships.
As host nation Great Britain can enter a maximum of three Men’s, three Women’s and three Mixed Doubles Teams, with the squad consisting of six men and six female players.
In January it was announced that the European Beach Tennis Championships would be held in Great Britain for the first time this summer. The English south coast town of Brighton has been chosen by the LTA to stage the event on 9-11 August.
The criteria use a combination of ITF Beach Tennis world rankings and an upcoming ITF Grade 4 event to select players for the Great Britain team. Subject to players meeting the essential eligibility criteria, the winners of the men’s doubles and women’s doubles events at the ITF grade 4 event in Brighton on 26th May 2013 will be automatically selected for the European Championship GB team.
LTA Competition Development Manager, George Donnelly, said ‘The release of the Beach Tennis Great Britain selection criteria sets out a transparent process for player selections to the European Championships. We are particularly pleased to link the criteria to the ITF grade 4 on Sunday 26th May in Brighton, delivered by Beach Tennis UK, which gives a real incentive to players to enter this event and earn their place in the GB team’.

At the same time the GB selection criteria for the ITF Beach Tennis World Championships in Moscow, 18-21 July 2013, has also been released.
Players are requested to read both criteria and email their interest to the LTA.
