This summer, Le Meridien Penina Golf and Resort, in the Algarve, Portugal will be running three LTA Approved junior competitions by providing players with the opportunity to take part in fun and exciting tournaments counting for ratings and rankings away from British shores.

In the last week of May, on European red clay, there will a 14 & Under Boys and Girls event for those rated 8.1 and above and a 12 & Under Boys event for those rated 8.2 and above (tournament code: GLO115). It will provide a great training and competition experience in preparation for the Grade 1 AEGON Clay Court Championships at Queenswood  School the following week. It is a great chance for players to train and compete on clay against high quality opposition. The closing date for entries is March 26 2012.

The main Algarve Open competitions take place from 23rd – 27th of July (tournament code: GLO108) and the 30th July – 3rd August (tournament code: GLO109). These tournaments are open to each age category from 8 & Under mini-red to 18 & Under Boys and Girls. These tournaments will take place on American hard courts. The closing dates for entries for these tournaments are: GLO108 – May 25 2012 and GLO109 – May 31 2012.  

GLO108 has also recently been granted grade 3 status.

A tennis academy will also be running alongside all of the competitions. It will take place each morning before the matches start in the afternoon. The academy will be led by LTA licensed coaches, many of whom have either playing or coaching experience from some of the finest academies in the world.
