Webley-Smith is runner-up in Japan

ITF Women’s $50k – Gifu , Japan – Women’s singles

Hopes were dashed for Emily Webley-Smith, who came runner-up in the final of the Japanese tournament after losing to Sachie Ishizu 6-1, 6-3. Twenty-seven year old Webley-Smith was the second Briton to lose out to the eighteen year old unseeded Japanese Ishizu, who had already knocked out Katie O’Brien on her route to taking the title.

ATP Challenger, $35k, Abierto Internacional del Bicentenario Leon – Men’s singles and doubles

Briton Chris Eaton’s run of doubles wins with German partner Andre Begemann came to an end in the final of the Mexican tournament, when they lost to top seeded Americans Rajeev Ram and Bobby Reynolds, 6-3, 6-2.

The nineteen year old top seed Emilia Banos-Gregorians continued her excellent run of form at the women’s AEGON final in Leeds, beating seventh seed Lauren Mcminn 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-2 to claim the title.

ITF 18U Grade 2 - 28th International Tournament of Salsomaggiore 2011 – Boys singles, Girls singles & doubles

British player Eleanor Dean and her partner Francesca Palmigiano (ITA) lost out in the final of the girls’ doubles 7-6(6), 6-0, to the Italian tournament’s second seeded pair Butovska and Jaksic.
