Anna Fitzpatrick produced a British win in the first round of the AEGON GB Pro-Series in Wrexham on a day where rain meant only three matches could be completed.
Fitzpatrick, the British No. 19, defeated British wild card Amanda Elliott 6-4, 6-3, and will now play either the No. 4 seed Heather Watson or Nicola George.
There has been further success for the British players at the various European Junior Championship events in Russia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
At 18U level, in Klosters, Switzerland, In the girls' draw Jennifer Ren, the sixteenth seed, is also into round three after a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over Ilinca Stoica of Romania in round two. She will now play Zsofia Susanyi of Hungary.
In the doubles, Ren is playing with Lucy Brown and the British pair have reached the last 16 after an impressive 6-1, 6-0 win against Estonia. The eighth seeds will now meet Israel, the No. 11 seeds.
In Moscow, at 16U level, Great Britain is one of the few countries to have both their players through to the last 16 of the boys' singles, Luke Bambridge and Kyle Edmund.
Edmund, took on Eugeniu Celarschi of Moldova, and comfortably won in straight sets 6-0 6-1. Martin Weston, GB Junior Tennis Manager for Men's Tennis commented, "A comprehensive victory for Kyle against an opponent who struggled to put up much resistance. Kyle was far too strong."
Edmund also has a difficult last 16 match as he will now play Serbian Miki Jankovic, the No. 2 seed on Thursday.
The British girls' have already exited the 16U event though as Jessica Ren went down 6-4, 6-4 against Hedda Odegaard of Norway to follow Katy Dunne out of the tournament.
However the pair are the No. 11 seeds in the doubles and have reached the third round where they will now play the sixth seeds, Albano & Palmigiano of Italy.
