Andrew Atkinson has won the boys doubles title at Road to Wimbledon 2010 with partner Ross Mackenzie of Lancashire. The pairing beat second seeds Luke Simeone (S.W.) and Lucas Taylor (MID) 3-6, 6-3 (10-7) to take the title.
Andrew, of Thongsbridge Tennis Club, won the regional stage of the championship after beating Adam Williamson from Nuffield Tennis Academy 4-1, 4-0 in the finals held at Nuffield Health on 17 July 2010.
Andrew also made it through to the second round of the Boys Singles, where he lost out on a qurater final place to Oxfordshire's Giles Waterson, who went on to become the tournament runner up.
In other Yorkshire news, Anna Fitzpatrick, Jessica Ren and Jennifer Ren were all competing in the AEGON British Tour at the Sutton Tennis and Squash Club.
Jennifer and Anna made it through to the quarter final stages. Jennifer faced Stephanie Cornish, but retired in the second set when she was 1-0 down after losing in the first 6-3. Stephanie went on to become the tournament runner up behind Emily Webley-Smith. Fitzpatrick was due to play Sarah Cantlay in her quarter final match but had to withdraw from the tournament and Cantlay was given a walkover into the semi finals.
Jessica Ren fared a little better and made her way into the Semi-Finals with a win against Jazzamay Drew 6-2, 6-1. She played eventual winner Webley-Smith, who proved too much for the Yorkshire player, winning 6-2, 6-4.
There is now a two week break on the tour, with the next event at Paddington commencing on the 6th September.
