The Prudden Junior Summer Tennis League

The Prudden Junior Summer Tennis League competition gets under way this month with free entry to teams of 12 years old and under as at 1st March.    The League lost five teams from last year in Tanworth-in-Arden, Chipping Campden B, HDA B Redditch, Shipston B & Stratford B.  However, remarkably they have been replaced by Alcester B, Claverdon B, Studley B plus new clubs Littleton and Moreton-in-the-Marsh.

The competition takes the format of four Pools, each consisting of four teams, geographically local to each other, who each take it in turn to host a Pool every month over the summer between March and June.  Pools will be played on a round robin basis with one pair of juniors from each club, one set each match (tie break normally at 6-6), allowing 3 sets/matches per team per pool night.  On Monday, July 12th there will be a Semi-Finals Pool night at a Bidford-on-Avon Tennis Club between the winning teams from each of the four pools.  The top two teams from this pool will then go on to play in a full Cup Final to be played at Stratford-on-Avon Tennis Club on Sunday 29th August 2010 at the Men’s League all day Pairs Tournament and Annual Presentation.

No fines are issued only points awarded i.e.: 2 for win, 1 for loss, 0 for fail to turn up. 

Winners of the competition will receive a returnable Cup to keep for the year and both winners and runners-up receive personal medals to keep.  All medals will be financed by the League sponsor Lee Prudden of Redditch.

The Pools for 2010 consist of the following clubs who are mostly fairly local to each other:-

Pool A -           Claverdon, Henley-in-Arden, Snitterfield and Stratford-on-Avon.

Pool B -           Alcester A, Bidford-on-Avon, HDA Redditch and Studley B.

Pool C -           Chipping Campden, Evesham, Littletons and Shipston-on-Stour.

Pool D -           Alcester B, Claverdon B, Moreton-in-the-Marsh, and Studley A.

Chipping Campden start the season by hosting Pool C’s opening Pool Night on Friday, 12th March.  Then Alcester A are hosts for Pool B on Friday, 19th March.  Next up are Henley-in-Arden who host Pool A on Thursday, 25th March and finally Pool D gets underway when Claverdon B host their Pool on Friday, 26th March, 2010.  All Pool matches begin at 6.30pm.
