Warwickshire Veterans Successes!

Warwickshire was well represented in the final rounds of the National Inter Clubs competitions, the finals of which were held at Dudley in November.

Streetly Winners of the Mens 60 against Westcliff but lost in the final of the 55.s to Leicestershire.  Warwick Boat Club Womens 60  Lost  to Bridgwater in the final,  the Mens 70  reached the Semi final as did their   Super Senior Mixed  team.In addition Streetly competed in the European Championships mens 60 and came   in 5th  and Warwick Boat club ladies played in the European womens 60 event in Portugal where they also came 5th.

World Championships. Jenny Waggott was a member of the Gold winning team in the womens 65 event. In Australia. Keith Bland and Mike Webb were in the mens 60 team with Alan Purnell reserve  and Jackie Robinson reserve for the womens 60 team.  Keith also reached the semis  in the singles event and won the silver medal in the mens doubles 60 with Richard Tutt.

Katie Shaw has been selected for the Womens 40 event in Mexico in April 2010.  In the Inter County event Warwickshire Ladies won the 60 event for the first time.  Perhaps it should also be recorded that Alan Purnell was recently re elected Chairman of the Vets GB Association and Keith Bland and Jackie Robinson elected Councillors.
