People in Welsh tennis will by now know that Peter Hybart, who has been Chief Executive of Tennis Wales since 2001, will be moving onto a new role with the Cricket Board of Wales as Director of Cricket.
Working with committed volunteers, Peter's diplomatic and negotiating skills were able to take the organisation forward to the point where in 2006 we were one of the first sports in Wales to convert from an association to become a company limited by guarantee, thereby creating a much more business-like organisation.
In that time, Peter's knowledge of tennis grew enormously and he has led Tennis Wales through a period of change in which the number of players, coaches, tournaments and competitions has increased dramatically. We wish him every success in his future career.
Cardiff-based Administrative Officer Liz Dummer is leaving Tennis Wales to start a new life in Brazil.
Liz has been with Tennis Wales since March 2003 and has been an extremely thorough and conscientious member of the team. Mike Clarke, secretary of the South Wales Committee of Tennis Wales paid tribute to Liz's contribution: "Whether it be in working on the various leagues, or in organising County representative teams, Liz has done an excellent job and will be greatly missed".
Liz will be replaced by Simon Clarke who starts his new role on October 1st. Simon has previously been head coach at Llantrisant Tennis Club and will bring extensive tennis knowledge to the post.
Also from October 1st, Nick Lawrence will start a new part-time role as the Tennis Wales Talent Perofrmance Co-ordinator for North Wales.
The role will focus on supporting and guiding the coaches at key North Wales clubs and centres in their production of talented Mini and 12U players, to feed into the High Performance Centre in Wrexham
