Leadership & Volunteering

Tennis Leaders

Tennis Leaders has been developed to introduce more young people into volunteering. It is the first step on the tennis and sport career pathway for volunteering and potentially, paid employment. It has been designed to offer a wide range of opportunities to young people, providing them with enhanced skills and experience. Tennis Leaders is targeted at 14 – 16 year olds with an interest in tennis and sport – however, this can be extended to 13 and 17 year olds.

There are four Tennis Leader modules, each ranging between 2-3hrs in duration - they can be delivered individually, or together:

  • Planning, Organisation and Communication*
3hrs – no volunteering experience required to complete module
  • Club Media & Communications
2hrs + 6hrs volunteering required to complete the module
  • Playing Partner / Buddy Hitting

  • Competition Assistant
2.5hrs + 6hrs volunteering required to complete the module

*Leaders must take this module before the other Tennis Leaders modules if they haven’t taken Sports Leaders UK (SLUK) Level 1.

Tennis Leaders modules can be delivered locally by trained tutors - there is also the opportunity for teachers to train as tutors.
