As the club gains a reputation for running great events the numbers entering continues to rise. This week we welcomed Isabelle Anderson and Jude Green to their first event at the club.
With room on the indoor courts to put up 8 mini red courts we plan to accept up to 20 players for each on our regular mini red events. Due to an administration error we ended up with 21 players on Saturday. After some adjustments to the round robin groups to accommodate all the players we started the matches.
The event was split in to two parts with the players first being drawn into 4 groups. Each group played out their matches on to courts with parents helping out with the scoring to speed up the matches and allow the players to concentrate on playing. The second round groups were determined by the finishing positions players achieved in the first set of boxes. This always makes for lots of close matches and great competition.
This week Thomas Beutell-Triggs from Hove, Jacob Harding from Chichester Lui Maxted and Nahum Banks from West Worthing and Harry Hewing contested the medals in the winners group with Thomas coming out on top with 4 wins in close competitive matches took the winners medal with Lui runner-up.
With two more mini red events before the end of the winter season players have the chance to win one of the 4 mini red awards that will be presented at the first West Worthing Tennis and Squash Club Mini Tennis awards that will take place on Saturday 10th April.
For more information about the awards and to enter any events at West Worthing Tennis and Squash Club please contact the club on 01903 247270 or visit our website www.wwc.org.uk
