Pro-Active South London Coach Bursary Scheme

Tuesday, March 02, 2010

Pro-Active South London (PASL) has access to funding to assist qualified coaches based within South London. This funding is based on a first come first served basis and will be distributed based on need as determined by PASL. Anyone interested in the opportunity must respond no later than 10th March 2010.

Aims

• Provide coaches with the opportunity to take coaching qualifications at subsidised financial cost to themselves.
• Provide coaches with the opportunities to put into practise the skills learnt on the courses.
• Create new opportunities for South Londoners to gain access to high quality coaching.
• Assist new and growing clubs to provide high quality coaching for their members.

Qualification Criteria

• Applicants must be a Level 1 or 2 qualified coach and currently coaching in either a paid or voluntary capacity
• Applicants must deliver coaching within the South London region i.e. one of the South London boroughs of Richmond upon Thames, Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Sutton, Croydon or Bromley
• Applicants must not be receiving funding from a third party towards the cost of the coaching course.

Conditions

• This application must be received by PASL by no later than 10 March 2010
• Applicants must have a valid CRB check
• Applicants must be a Level 1 or 2 qualified coach and currently coaching in either a paid or voluntary capacity
• All coaching delivery must be to young people between ages 10 to 19 years
• Applicants must obtain an Active Passport (funded)
• All delivery must take place within School term time but out of School hours. Before School and Lunch time provision is acceptable.
• Candidates in receipt of the Bursary must be willing to commit to 15 hours of voluntary coaching by 31st March 2011.
• Applicants plan to coach within a club environment after completing bursary commitments.
• Once accepted by PASL the Candidate sends a cheque representing  100% of the course fee within 5 working days, to be returned on successful completion of the course.
• All applications will be assessed at the sole discretion of PASL and will be based upon the needs of the local area.  No guarantees are given that a completed application will be successful.

How will the scheme work?

• Application form sent in to Pro-Active South London (PASL)  for approval (brian@southlondonpartnership.co.uk)
• Once accepted by PASL the Candidate must, within 5 working days send 1) the completed and signed course application form together with stamp addressed envelope addressed to the course organiser and 2)  a cheque (payable to Pro-Active South London)  representing  100% of the course fee, failing which the opportunity may be offered to those on the waiting list. Please note this cheque will only be cashed if funding is approved and the coach fails to comply with PASL requirements outlined in this communication.
• All placements must be approved by PASL. PASL will assist in finding bursary coaches placements.
