Sunday 24th January saw Frome Selwood Tennis Club hold the first of 4 Grand Slam tennis tournaments to coincide with the ATP tour. It was held at Writhlington Tennis Centre with 16 players taking part in the mixed doubles competition. The players played in Australian fancy dress and the winners of the tournament were Ros Bean and Muir Mackean (who each won a private coaching lesson with coach Craig Stock). The runners up were Rachel Brenni and Nick Poole. The fancy dress was won by Ros Bean and Mark Waller.
Organiser Donna West said: "This competition was the idea of our new coach, and was great fun. We hold many competitions throughout the year and now we move onto the French Open!"
Chairman John Price said: "It was very kind of Writhlington Tennis Centre to let us use their facilities while ours are being replaced - without their help, the event would not have been possible".
The Club welcomes new members of all standards. For further information visit www.frometennis.net
