Coaches across Shropshire deliver tennis coaching in primary and secondary schools throughout the year. This coaching takes place before, during and after school times. Having a tennis coach teaching the sport to school children has many benefits for the school, the club/centre and the coach. Thousands of children are introduced to tennis each year in school and are then encouraged to carry on playing at their local club or centre. This helps tennis venues grow their membership and coaching programmes, whilst also adding to the school's curriculum.
Primary School Children are given the opportunity to compete in a Mini Red School Team Competition in Year 3. The competitions are organised locally based around the Schools Sports Partnerships and the Competition Managers with the winning teams qualifying for the county finals.
The County Finals in 2010 took place at Welti Health & Fitness in July with Radbrook 1 the eventual winners.
Secondary School Children are given the opportunity to compete in various individual and team events. The Shropshire County Secondary School Final took place at the Shrewsbury Sports Village in June.
