For the second year running the people of Glasgow ignored forecasts of rain so they could enjoy the annual Queen’s Park Tennis Festival at the weekend.
Over 200 people took part in a variety of tennis activities including beat the coach, speed of serve, free coaching, match play and much more on Saturday and Sunday. The event was organised and delivered by Glasgow Life in partnership with Queen’s Park Community Tennis Club, CrossSports and the Tennis Foundation.
Queen’s Park Tennis Courts are free of charge for recreational use all year round. In addition to this, Queen’s Park Community Tennis Club offer range of organised and coached tennis activities for juniors and adults looking to take their tennis experience that little bit further.
Mike Kolacz, Tennis Development Officer at Glasgow Life, said: “Once again the festival was a success with the local community, highlighting a real demand for tennis. It was a great opportunity for players of all ages and all abilities to try the sport in a relaxed and fun environment.”
Meanwhile, Glasgow Life is also pleased to announce that Kelvingrove Park tennis courts in the west of the city are currently being resurfaced as Glasgow continues efforts to develop strong community tennis facilities and programmes.
Mike Kolacz added: “Kelvingrove Tennis Courts have been indentified as a key priority for the development of outdoor community tennis in the city. Along with our partners we are striving to provide first-class tennis facilities for the public and Kelvingrove has an important part to play in helping us deliver this.”
