Norwich Junior Parks 2010

For the second year in a row the Norwich Parks has had to adopt a new venue for the annual Junior Tournament now in its 60th year. Traditionally a grass court tournament the event planned to be held on the grass courts at Sprowston Recreation Ground had to be switched at the last minute to the Norfolk Health & Racquets Club as the heavy winter had taken its toll on the grass courts making them not fit for play.

A huge thank you to Stuart Silvester and the Norfolk Health and Racquets Club for allowing the tournament to use their great facilities. The players and parents enjoyed the experience and with the mixed weather in the week the hard courts and the opportunity to use the indoor courts if required helped David Weeds the referee complete the tournament on time.

The two stars of the tournament were Megan Wright and Harry Weeds. Megan winning 4 events and Harry winning 5 including combining to win the Mixed Doubles together.

It is hoped that next year the event will once again return to a grass court venue as the committee wish to keep the history of the tournament alive. At the presentation David Weeds thanked Lynda Love, Gill Ellis, Karen Self and Josh weeds for their help in the week.

Many of the players who were knocked out of the main draw played at least 2 bonus matches in the week and the ever popular Family Mixed event was played in the evening but was not completed by the end of the week but will be completed during the Norfolk Closed.
