Thornley wins Tier 1 British Tour event in Corby

Sean Thornley had a successful week winning the Tier 1 British Tour event in Corby. After straight set wins in the early rounds, Sean won a closely fought semi-final against Nick Lester who had previously beaten the number 2 seed James Feaver, ranked 707 on the ATP rankings. In the final, Sean played David Rice whom Sean had beaten in straight sets in Malaysia a few weeks previously. David is ranked 506 on the ATP list and No 12 in GB but he had to retire in the final with a wrist injury with the scores level at 3-3. For winning the event Sean picked up a trophy, £750 prize money and a Wild Card into the main draw of a Futures event.
