Most children have their first experience of tennis at school. All schools can provide access to tennis whether it is on a playground, in a school hall or on a court. By building links with a local club, schools can further provide pupils with access to coaching and other tennis support.

A Schools Tennis Competition Framework has been developed to provide simple, inclusive and progressive schools competition opportunities. There are two categories of SchoolsTennis Competitions, National and Local.

Training Courses
There are several courses available for teachers, coaches and young people to enable them to deliver quality tennis activities in schools or at their local tennis club. These are:
•Primary Schools Teachers Course• Secondary Schools Teachers Course• Working in Primary Schools Coaches Course• Competition Organiser Workshops• Tennis Leader Awards So far in 2009/2010, over 4,000 schools have attended the course and benefited from the free AEGON Schools Tennis equipment packs.

AEGON Schools Tennis Registration and Membership
From October 2009 a free online registration will be offered to individuals within the schools sector. This free registration offers regular communication and information regarding schools tennis allowing access to a comprehensive menu of online resources.
In addition to what you receive through the free registration, the new schools tennis membership scheme will have a number of additional and improved benefits. These include the existing Wimbledon Ticket Ballot, the small grants scheme and free entry into the national schools tennis competitions.
