Coaching in Schools
Coaches and schools across Cumbria help deliver tennis in primary and secondary schools throughout the year. These opportunities can take place before, during and after school times. Thousands of children are introduced to tennis each year in school and are then encouraged to carry on playing at their local club or centre. This helps tennis venues grow their membership and coaching programmes, whilst also adding to the school's curriculum.
Schools Tennis Competitions
Children are given the opportunity to compete in tennis competitions in school. There is currently the Year 3 & 4 Schools competition being run in Cumbria.
These events are organised locally each year through the Schools Sports Partnerships and the Competition Manager, who is based in each local authority responsible for schools sports competitions, including tennis. If you are a Club or Coach and are interested in getting involved please contact the relevant Competition Manager for your area as highlighted below,
In 2009 / 2010 we will be introducing the Year 7 & 8 Schools Competition. We will let you know of all further details once everything has been confirmed.
Courses for Teachers and Young People
There are several courses that teachers and young people can attend to help them deliver tennis activities in school or at their local club. These courses are:
- Primary Schools Teachers Course
- Secondary Schools Teachers Course
- Tennis Leaders Award
- Competition Organisers Course
If you would like to attend one of these courses or organise a course in your area, please contact Jo.Cunliffe@LTA.org.uk
