David Smith of Kendal took home Cumbria's Boy Player Of The Year Award!
Over the past few years Cumbria LTA has nominated a boy and girl who, in their opinion, been a credit to the County both on and off court, and has achieved high standards at regional and national events. With this in mind David deservedly won the award and was presented with the trophy by Tony Hesmondhalgh at the Cumbria AGM presentation evening Dec 2, 2009.
Below are some of Davids achievements:
Represented Cumbria at:• 10 & Under in 2001 where Cumbria qualified for the National 10 & Under Finals at Bisham Abbey• 11 & Under in 2002 where Cumbria also qualified for the National 11 & Under Finals at Bisham Abbey• In 2003 12 & Under Junior County Champion at both Singles & Doubles• In 2003/4Member of 13 & Under County Cup Team• In 2004 14 & Under Junior County Champion at both Singles Doubles• In 2005 Member of both the 14 & Under and 18 & Under County Cup Team• In 2005 U14 Road to Wimbledon County Winner but was injured and unable to compete at Wimbledon.• In 2005/6 16 & Under Junior County Champion at both Singles & Doubles• From 2007/2009 Member of 18 & Under County Cup Team• Member of Men’s County Cup Team 2008/9• In 2009 18 & Under Junior County Champion at both Singles and Doubles
David is coached by Jon Griffin and the above highlights what a truly committed player he is to his tennis. We wish David continued success with everything in the future!
