The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the Tennis Foundation (TF) are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our websites and in doing so adhere to the available standards and guidelines. Our site has been designed to help accessibility by following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as part of their Web Accessibility Initiative. The Tennis Foundation website meets these guidelines but there are aspects of the LTA website that are in the progress of being made fully accessible. One key area is video content where because of the volume of video accross the LTA website it has not yet been possible to provide text alternative versions of each video.
Where content images are used, they will include descriptive ALT attributes. Those purely decorative graphics or used for layout include empty ALT attributes. We are working towards making all pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict, using structured semantic mark-up and that the CSS is validated, in order to be compatible with read-aloud software. We are also striving to make sure than any PDF files uploaded to the site are compatible with read-aloud software. To alter the contrast of the screen and size of the text a high visibilty version of the website will be added to the LTA pages which already in use on the TF site.
It is possible to use this site by using the keyboard, rather than a mouse or other pointing device. This can be done by using the TAB key to move forward through the links on the page, and Shift-TAB to move backwards. Pressing the Space Bar will select form elements such as tick boxes and pressing the Return key will activate any link you are focused on.
When using the search bar at the top of the page you can tab into the website button and use the return key to open the drop down menu. From here you can tab to the search option you wish to use and hit return to activate the chosen option.
Navigation Keys can be used as shortcuts to avoid tabbing through the websites menu. Depending on the browser you are using how to activate the shortcuts will vary as follows:
Internet Explorer: Alt + Access Key + Return
Chrome: Alt + Access Key
Firefox: Alt + Shift + Access Key
Safari: Alt + Access Key
Whilst on the LTA website the following access keys will work.
Skip navigation Accesskey = S

Whilst the LTA and TF strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. In some cases, links will be duplicated on the same page, which may confuse screen reading software.
