Becoming a BSTA member is a great way to support your school’s tennis. It brings all kinds of benefits, from entry in the BSTA Teachers’ Wimbledon Ticket Ballot to grants for equipment and coaching.
Not only does the BSTA offer member schools greater knowledge and tennis expertise, it also keeps them up to date with new developments in the game. Members have access to a number of benefits. For example, BSTA schools can apply for a small grant when they renew their membership.
Grants of between £50 and £500 are available for grassroots development at the school, including equipment packages, teacher or coach education, facility enhancement (playground markings, nets and posts), out-of-hours activity at the school or local tennis club, and coaching hours - in or out of curriculum time.
(BSTA member schools can download the grant application form here. Please note you will need to include your school's membership number to ensure that the form is accepted and also the grant application needs to go through your local LTA county office to gain approval).
Schools are also eligible to enter the BSTA Teachers’ Wimbledon Ticket Ballot and Wimbledon Ball Ballot, but your school needs to have joined by 31 December of their membership year. Teachers at member schools also get entered into a ballot for a pair of complimentary tickets for the middle Saturday of Wimbledon.
In addition, schools receive monthly copies of Britain's best-selling tennis magazine, ACE, and twice-yearly editions of Schools Tennis magazine to keep you up to date with schools tennis news and special offers.
The British Schools Tennis Team competitions are open to all member schools with no entry fee to pay. The BSTA runs three national Nestlé team tennis competitions, the Year 8 and Year 10 competition, Senior Students competition, and the Aberdare and Glanvill Cup, which is the National Schools Championships. For more information, see the School Competition page.
